The germination chamber is used to sprout the seeds under controlled heat and humidity. Once the seeds sprout the starter flats are moved to starter benches. The chamber was built from some old shelving and excess poly carb sheets from the garden house. 

We started some veggie and herb seedlings this week including lettuce, cauliflower, broccoli, sage, basil, chives, chamomile, oregano, bergamot, and borage. We also started some flower varieties s including petunias, marigolds, vinca, and dichondra.

We didn’t seen any sign of deer but put out some deterrents to see if it will help…..

Warm & Fuzzies

 The MPRI crew is a big help.  Some of these clients are taking a keen  interest and pride in the various plantings e.g. Larry with the Herb Garden; Richard and Bonnie with the tomato area; Steve  with the peppers and brassicas; Bobbie with sweet corn and pumpkins…. I believe they are learning things and starting to enjoy the work. ….good to see this.  Perhaps some will get to see the  end result…..harvest.  I am also very pleased with Shon.  He has been very instrumental in completing daily activities,  has a good aptitude for farming, and has taken a personal interest in his work. This is the part of the farm I enjoy most.
